Damsels in Space Pilot An Old Frontier    Garuda IX was a fairly ordinary binary star - a set of twin white dwarves dancing around each other - in a fairly quiet, undisturbed corner of the galaxy. There were no colonies there, no Conglomerate outposts, and no trade routes that passed through. For somebody seeking a getaway from the activity - and demands - of galactic life, all it would take is a half-capable starsloop to get here. There wasn't much reason, for the most part - no reason more, for most people, than any other random star system. Eight planets, half of which were gas giants and only one capable of supporting life, with two ast
